NFL Star Kris Boyd Was Shot in New York City in November 2025

A New York Police Department (NYPD) spokesperson said authorities responded to a 911 call regarding a male who was “shot in front of 156 West 38th Street” at approximately 2:09 a.m. on November 16, according to People. The address is for the fine dining restaurant Sei Less NYC, which is located in the city’s midtown neighborhood.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they found a 29-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Kris Boyd Was in Critical Condition After Shooting

The spokesperson said the New York Jets player was transported to Bellevue Hospital and is in “critical condition.”

Kris Boyd Shared a Health Update 3 Days After the Shooting

Three days after the shooting, a statement was shared via Boyd’s Instagram Stories revealing that he was able to breathe on his own. The post included a photo of him lying down and smiling in what appeared to be his hospital bed. “God is real, God is powerful,” text read at the top of the image, per the NFL’s website.

“I’m sorry I have no words at the moment,” he continued. “Just grateful! I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Sincerely appreciate everyone!”

No Arrests Have Been Made After Kris Boyd Was Shot

No arrests have been made as of time of publication. The NYPD confirmed that the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.

The NYPD released new surveillance videos showing the person who they believe shot Boyd, according to The Bronx News 12. In one clip, the suspect was seen wearing a black hat. Meanwhile, another clip showed the person running into the street after the shooting.

Kris Boyd Returned to the Hospital After Being Released

While Boyd was initially released from the hospital after the shooting, he revealed he returned in an Instagram Story post on November 26.

“Please bare [sic] with me, I haven’t been in communication much,” he wrote at the time. “I was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues.”

Boyd then wrapped up the post by thanking everyone who prayed and reached out to him following the incident.

Despite sharing that he had to go back to the hospital, Boyd didn’t reveal any updates about his health.

The New York Jets Issued a Statement After Kris Boyd Was Shot

Shortly after news broke about the shooting, a spokesperson for the New York Jets addressed the situation and confirmed that Boyd was the victim who was shot.

“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,” the rep said in a statement to People.

Meanwhile, Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson took to X to ask for prayers for Boyd after the shooting.

“Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!! Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety,” Johnson wrote in a post shared on November 16. “Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely. In your name, Amen.”

Who Is Kris Boyd?

After Boyd played college football for the Texas Longhorns from 2015 until 2018, he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. He continued his professional football career by playing two seasons with the Houston Texans, as well as one season with the Arizona Cardinals.

The cornerback later signed with the Jets in 2025. The team played against the New England Patriots during the November 13 Thursday Night Football game just days before the shooting. The Jets lost the game with a score of 27-14.

Boyd, who has been on the injury reserve list after he suffered a shoulder injury during a team practice in August 2025, did not play during that most recent game.
