Innnteresting. Ariana Grande surprised fans when she posted a Father’s Day tribute for her estranged dad, Edward Butera. The singer frequently shares a lot about her mother, Joan, and her brother, Frankie, but seldom is she spotted hanging out with her father. The two family members seem to be working on reconnecting because the “7 Rings” artist posted a photo of herself and Edward standing outside the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, after her June 1 Sweetener show.

“Foreva,” the 25-year-old wrote on a photo of her and the Florida-based graphic designer standing arm-in-arm on her Instagram Story on June 16. Her proud pops also gushed about his daughter earlier this month after attending the concert. “What a great show, very proud of you and hope you get to rest,” he tweeted on June 1. The next day he added, “Had such a great time at the show, thank you, everyone.”

The pop star’s relationship with her dad has been strained for the past few years. She even mentioned him in “thank u, next” when she sang, “One day I’ll walk down the aisle / Holding hands with my mama / I’ll be thanking my dad / ‘Cause she grew from the drama.”

Back in 2014, the “Dangerous Woman” artist confessed to Seventeen that “falling out of touch with my dad” was the hardest thing she ever went through. “It’s private, but it happened last year. It took me so long to be OK with it.”

“The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him,” she explained. “So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s OK not to get along with somebody and still love them.” She didn’t go into nitty-gritty details about their bruised relationship at the time and has continued to stay tight-lipped about the topic.

She did post a throwback photo of the two to wish him a happy Father’s Day back in 2017 and added, “I love you,” to the caption. It looks like the father-daughter duo may be slowly making amends.

Time will tell!
